“Put the Kettle on!” is dedicated to all things fictional that deal with post-apocalyptic scenarios with a special emphasis on the British contribution to the genre.
Hopefully the title conveys my desire for any discussion on this most serious of subjects to have at its heart the idea that things will only ever start getting better after much tea/coffee/ a hot beverage of your choice has been consumed as opposed to having to shoot as many people as possible but that is not to say that the whys and how’s of getting ‘tooled’ up should things go horribly wrong is not important.
There are the usual rules and regulations about not being horrible about people for the whole variety of the usual reasons but there will be a light touch applied to any moderating.
Anybody wishing to link to commercial sites are expected to ask first but as long as its connected to the general theme then it should be ok but please be wary of linking to anything that might infringe copyright regulations or generally bring down the wrath of any recognised authority on my head.
All suggestions and comments welcome and I hope that people enjoy themselves here.
Matthew.

Excellent. Thanks for doing this Matthew. What will we do when the world's stockpiles of digestives run out? That's what I'd like to know!

Excellent. Thanks for doing this Matthew. What will we do when the world's stockpiles of digestives run out? That's what I'd like to know! That truly would be a terrible day ;D Messed about a little with the British section and added a 'what if' board. Please bear with me because this is very much a work in progress so things still might change a little.

Just to say - well done! I've been all over the web looking for a place to waffle about this stuff. Hope it grows and glad to know that the humble cup of tea will unite humanity when / if the proverbial occurs...

Welcome on board Fred.
Hopefully we can build it up and I am all ears when it comes to suggestions about promoting the site.

intrigued! this is a fabulous idea for a forum - not sure if i'll be able to contribute but will be watching how it all comes together with interest. have been reading through the fiction recommendations and will try come up with some of my own. As Nick Cave once said, should the superpowers nuke us all, the only survivors will be cockroaches and goths - worth bearing in mind, that.
good luck

Hello, is there a place for newbies to introduce themselves? I've never really used forums very much, I tend to socialise on Twitter and the godawful Facebook, but when I saw a Brit PA site with an emphasis on tea-drinking our way through the apocalypse, I simply couldn't resist...

Hi guys another new member and rabid PA novel reader, collected a healthy paperback collection over the years anbd I love em, its also convenient cos I'm a survivaliost as well as a PA book fan and I've even scribed some PA fictional scenarios for my fellow preppers to use to try and expand their understanding of survivalism.

Welcome onboard. Already enjoying reading your contributions and whilst not really that much of a prepper or survivalist myself I do admire the enthusiasm.

I'm going to need to learn to take tea without milk - not too many cows in the centre of Cardiff and the Tesco fridge stuff won't last long after it all kicks off.

I recently received a "Meal ready to eat" ration from a local church. Used the chemical heating pack out on my terrace. Its an attic flat -no great shakes. Comfy in an atelier kind of way. anyway it struck me as strange to get military rations at the church pantry. Well out here on Long Island New york The aquifer is poisoned-not at all like manhattan's water-it tastes metallic and swampy. After 5 years away from manhattan i still notice. Longer locals do nt. We're right near Brookhaven national laboratories. Anyway I'm an American who reads the spectrum from science periodicals and anthropological speculative/science/fiction and horror. Most of all I prefer Fat Apocalyptic books Like "Swan Song " .Got any Anglo-PA BIG TOMES to suggest? I love "The Great and Secret Show" and "Everwhere". Ever read Richard Preston'd "The demon in the freezer"? Great smallpox non-fiction that feels TERRIFYING. Love this site ,I'll comb around. Cool,
