Edwmund Cooper wrote many SF books and stories but my favourites are his PA novels. The Cloud Walker, Who needs Men? and All Fools Day.
Like Wallis' Only Lovers Left Alive the theme of All Fools Day is mass suicide leading to the nearly empty world we need before we can get on with the interesting action.
The Cloud Walker deals with the reinvention of technology after some dosaster and the growth of neo-Luddites. Specifically rediscovery of flight seems to hold the key to progress resuming, hint of the league of pilots in HG Wells Things To Come.
Who Needs Men says it all, women have taken over and men are hunted to extinction. Gloomiest ending of his novels.
Cooper fits completely into the Wyndham/Christopher nexus.

Being a "colonial" from the small island state of Australia - and we even get a mention in Cooper's " The Overman Culture" I have to agree Edwin, Cooper is under rated. I have had most of his books on my shelf for 30 years and reread quite often. I like the PA novels and the "Expendables" series as well. Cheers, Peter
