Just finished reading this, not a huge book, finished it in 2 night shifts. I wasn't overly impressed at the beginning but kept reading. Didn't think the characters were very well developed and there were alot of them to start with (alot more that most PA books) but then again 'The Passage' had shitloads of characters and i loved that. Anyway. The story is well written and it kicks off pretty much from the start. Without giving too much away, It kinda steps up the zombie genre without being to scifi at the same time. Not a bad read if you can get it under a fiver.

Bought it today as part of my holiday reading pile. Looking forward to reading it whilst sipping a cold one in the Croatian sun.

Yeah that beats me reading it, sipping coffee in the staff room.

Very mixed feelings about the book.
Firstly I think its very well written.
Secondly, its a clever idea to set it where it does (its not a spoiler to say that its about the maintenance crew of an enormous gas/oil platform up near to the Artic) and how they cope with a global pandemic.
Thirdly I never quite bought into some of the twists and turns of the plot and it perhaps got a bit to modern gothic for my liking in parts.
However its worth reading and I would happily look out for any sequel.

I just finished 'Outpost' myself and agree with Matthew's comments above - great idea, good execution, but some slightly odd twists (particularly towards the end of the book).
The author's website has some interesting videos about his own attitude to 'prepping' and a couple of other subjects.

I've got a copy of Juggernaut by Baker that I've left on my shelf and haven't bothered with. I think I'll pick it up and give it a flick through based on these comments

I made a start on Juggernaut after quite enjoying Outpost, didn't draw me in as much and it got put aside for other books, must re-attempt it.
