Just wondered if any of have read this one, or even any other of John Wyndham's books?
Probably his most famous book was "The Day of the Triffids" - one of the best post-apocalyptic books ever written in my view.

One of the series of brilliant SF first published by Michael Joseph. Love the fact that they finsh their travels before hope is reborn on a little Cornish island. Very good place to live out the Post-Apoc.

This is one of my favourite JW's - mostly because so few people have heard of it! I love the slow build, the idea of things coming from the sea too - having grown up in Cornwall it really gave me the willies!

read this years ago and enjoyed it !
recently re-read another of his called the chrysalids, about a group of children with telepathic powers growing up in a community where everything is checked for mutations, anything different from the 'norm' is destroyed, from plants upwards.

I enjoyed the Chrysalids but as with the film of HG Wells Shape of Things to Come and its league of airmen I found the telepathic super power coming to rescue them a bit of an easy finish. I prefer the main characters to work out their own destinies in books.

I love DOTT by John wyndham its the TV series that turned me into a survivalist along with Doomwatch and Quatermass, then Survivors 1976 version finished the enlightenment off.
Did you know Wyndhams estate authorised a follow on from DOTT and got simon Clark to write the excellent NIGHT OF THE TRIFFIDS
