I was just checking either WIKI or IMDB about the old 50s movie When Worlds Collide when I spotted a link that said they are doing a remake in 2012. That should be great if they do, I hope they also remake CRACK IN THE WORLD as well.

Are remakes always a good idea? Imagine "When the World caught fire" without a real newspaper office or what they would do to "Things to Come" although a less soppy ending to that might be better, thinking about it.

Its an interesting point about remakes. I think they can work, as was seen with the most recent BBC adaptation of 'Day of the Triffids' but you need to essentially stick with the story line you are remaking.
For example the remake of Survivors was a major disapointment on all sorts of levels but primarily it was because they tinkered to much with what should have been the core plot.
But I do think with todays modern TV production values then it can really add something to Post-apoc dramas.
The current second season of 'The Walking Dead' for example is just fantastic and a great example of what can be done.
