The novel by David Wallis "Only LoversLeft Alive" has the end
Spoiler".....
With our heroes joining a migrant lot of Scottish sheep herders after various adventures in the decaying remnants of urban society. The final way of life does suggest that it is a way of life with plenty to offer providing there is snug winter quarters available.
Mick Farren's "Texts of Festival" suggests that even spaced out outlaws are somehow more virile and powerful than those settled in the remnants of civilisation.
Perhaps we are even looking back to fears of Huns and Attilla with the idea that free travelling horsemen are somehow inherently more powerful than farmers, a theme of several Westerns. This is to ignore the fact that everywhere the plough has conquered the pastoralists.
As I suggested the nomad life is a relatively short-term solution as is living off the bounty of the seashore but should we want to get back to a medical service and post offices then settled villages have to be established.
