I must confess that Zombie films are my guilty little PA secret and I am a massive fan of the genre even though I know that many purists dont accept them as being 'real' post apocolyptic but from the reviews I do think Mr Romero should perhaps just give up. The original and the remake of 'Dawn of the Dead' remain my favourite Zombie flics ever but the last few offerings have not been anything other than a major let down. My hope is the much speculated upon film version of 'World War Z' (if you have not read it yet then do so. Its brilliant) will address the slip in standards of recent years and whilst there are a lot of very good low budget Zombie films around along with the very good '28 Days' and the not so good '28 Days later' its still something that could benefit from a fresh leash of life. www.imdb.com/title/tt1134854/

It seems to me that the Zombie film in part is only giving form to the horrors that must stalk a PA survivor if they are at all sensitive. I consider them a cop-out from a difficult PA film such as:
I would like to see a clever film-maker doing a "pure" PA film but having the characters "haunted" in some ways, not overtly with ex-flesh and blood horrors but catching shadows in the corner of their eye and hearing shufflings on the stairs at night sort of thing.

I have to agree with Edwin here. I find the 'zombie' thing a bit irritating.... I read 'World War Z' and it took me ages - didn't get into it all. I have a mate who absolutely loved the book and has read it a few times. One thing i've noticed recently amongst preppers and/or (?) survivalists, is the increasing use of the term "Zombie Invasion" rather than "Post-Fall" or "TEOTWAWKI"
I guess the terms "Post Fall" and "TEOTWAWKI" mean different things too.... However, I can't imagine a situation where anyone on living earth is going to have to survive a zombie attack.....

World War Z made a very good audio book. Over 20 voice actors. And an English bloke playing an English bloke which is lovely.
I love zombie genre. But it isn't as far fetched as people think especially when you look at the 28 days later scenario. the easiest way to spread a virus is through a scratch or a bite. Plenty of diseases can give someone animalistic/feral behaviour.

Although I mostly dislike the Zombie concept for films and books I did like the "28" films and last man on earth/I am Legend films. There was a TV drama where someone smuggles/experiments on animals and accidentally turns rabies into an airborne disease. The sequel if ever written would be exciting.
