Pavane was very enjoyable if literally a little fey but it had the power of steam.
I used to wonder if a wandering group PA based on a steam traction engine would be viable. Then there is the action based on them in Texts of festival by Mick Farren.
Powerful but vulnerable but sustainably powered they definitely appeal.

Why not a steam lorry, many of them are still around today.

Steam lorry is a good idea. Perhaps there could be a chapter where they find a cult group still running an assortment of Lister engines, as they do now at steam fairs. And gun them down.
