Yeuck. Am I being nasty when I think a person with a potentionally contagious disease should not be flown to the UK for treatment? Heard a thing today on the radio how developed Qatar waswith a world class medical centre etc. Implication of some of the report was that it quite put us to shame.

Heard a thing today on the radio how developed Qatar waswith a world class medical centre etc. Implication of some of the report was that it quite put us to shame. Its an interesting moral dilemma. My uneducated guess is that perhaps we are better suited for coping with a potentially new disease and the consequences for a whole variety of reasons. Qatar might have lots of shiny medical centres for your common or garden ailment but would have the sort of expertise on hand to deal with something completely new ? Now a death.... www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-21503893I have to admit a real interest in how a potential SHTF pandemic senario might pan out in terms of how it is reported in the media. Media reaction is a tool used in a lot of post-apoc fiction and one of the things that most took me about the first episode of Survivors was the first episode in which Jenny and her husband listen to the radio reports. I can also remember being very taken with the whole 'Emergency broadcast network' in the original Dawn of the Dead film as well. In this day of 24/7 media coverage and the OTT reaction in the past to things like Bird flu I just wonder if the real thing might be a lot more understated, at least in the early days, than people realise.

Confused, Jenny wasn't married until she took up with Greg but that is no matter, what worries me is that I can't remember any radio reports of an epidemic in Survivors.

Wouldn't the obvious conclusion that religious observance provides no protection occur to any would-be pilgrim and lead them to question the whole basis of prayer etc in all religions?
