Ok Ok i know it's a zombie book- but i did warn you i was something of an addict there on my intro! And second confession its not strictly post apocalypse - more apocalyptic outbreak
I think this was one of my favourites for 2 reasons: 1. Empson really gets being British, the references and attitudes are spot on 2. as a horror writer primarily he really gets into the detail
A simple story of 3 groups in different parts of the uk simply trying to survive. The groups are cleverly linked (some one in group A is an ex of some one in group B, Some one in group B has an estranged younger sibling in group C- something like that) but have no contact with each other. Essentially it's 3 perspectives on the same situation in various parts of the country.
It's about their survival, their instant plans, and their reactions to the stimulus: fight or flight, do the right thing or self serving goals, stick with civilised rules or move with the situation.
a good read!
