Why, when running away, do people not hurtle? They run like the fox after his dinner not the rabbit running for her life. Not sure I fancy the film.
What is the problem with Essex? I lived there happily in Loughton for a few years. Epping Forest and the empty roads out towards Theydon Bois (THEN!) were great for mental involvement in PA scenarios stimulated by Triffids and The Death of Grass. Perfect occasion when I came down a hill on my bicycle and there on a green area besides the road was a Gypsy camp or atchin tan with fire, open lots and piebald horses. Took me back into the past or into a future PA.
Up at High Beach in Epping Forest it was mostly dereliction as though "the disaster" had happened years in the past and, finally, Bank Holiday traffic through Loughton and out along the A11 was a good substitute for crowds fleeing THE END as in some books.
