First of all its a 'big' book both in terms of size and the themes it covers. Basic plot is a family man who whilst on business in Japan finds himself being only one of a handful of people to survive a mystery pandemic and decides to get himself back to Berlin. Any PA book which encompasses such an ambitious trek has to be worthy of consideration. So far all well and good and whilst it then goes into a degree of minutiae that is perhaps only really appreciated by us true fans of the genre as the book progresses, at least for the first half, it has something about it and I rather enjoyed that. But then, as it moves into the second half, some of the plot developements seem not only far fetched but also bordering on the bizarre. If you have a kindle or similar then for £2.70 its reasonable value. But investing anymore than that in the conventional paper back version, well I would struggle to say that it was worth the price being asked. There is plenty of room for a sequel and I would read it but I feel its strictly for fans of the genre rather than the casual reader.
