Finally got around to seeing it.
Firstly it has almost nothing to do with the book what so ever, beyond the title. Also in terms of its wider 'Zombie' heritage, well it seems to have been more influenced by the '28 days/month' genre than the classical Romero catalogue.
But....and I did not anticipate writing this before I sat down to watch it...I did not mind it. In fact I rather enjoyed it.
As a piece of ‘pop-corn’ PA then it has some merit. What you see is what you get and the CGI makes it worth seeing. Does the plot have enough holes to drive numerous trucks, side by side, through ? Absolutely but it also has that sort of big screen adventure movie feel to it that Hollywood does best.
Its not a PA classic but as a stand alone piece, well I have seen worse. Having low expectations helped though, I would concede that, but all in all, worth watching.

I enjoyed it - I knew it bore no resemblance to the book so it defied expectation, the scenes on the stairwell were tense. It wasn't as gory as the Walking Dead so I've let my younger son watch it with me.

Finally watched it and wonder why they made half a film.
