Just ordered a 1p copy of Bush Soldiers by John Hooker, fancied reading it again as it really seems to get the emptiness of Australia. Not exactly post-apoc but is a grown up version of Tomorrow When the War began. Far grittier, you can almost taste the stewed black tea. Yes there is tea in the book.

Strewth! The book makes yer thirsty but if you like journeys that are somehow Quxotic... I am enjoying it and can't wait for the Lewis guns and Brens to open up. Good social commentaries on pre-war Australia and the Anzacs' experiences of coming home from WWI.
