I have loved the Graham Oakley books from childhood - particularly the Church Mice series with the long suffering cat and Arthur the inventive mouse. I had not known that in 1986 with a good deal of prescience, Graham had written a peak oil/energy descent childrens pictures book. I now have a copy and it is a cracker! Called Henry's Quest it is a 32page A4 sized lavish picture book detailing the PA feudal sheep boy Henry on a classic knight errant quest to find the mysterious creature PETROL that the people in the Old Days knew about but has now been forgotten. Some of the PA scenes in the book: www.dailykos.com/story/2007/04/05/319933/-Life-after-oil-151-A-children-s-book-review#www.polymathperspective.com/?p=223 - an interview with Oakley where he sadly states that his detailed books are not in vogue - the publishers want simpler, dumb-downed items.

Didn't know of this one. Shame about simplistic illustration trend. I would have loved these.
