Just finished reading it and did so over the space of 48 hours.
Firstly its very well written and I would rate it as some of the best Zombie fiction I have ever read. You really get a feel for what it might be like if the dead were to start to rise and start trying to eat you and the whole way in which a UK government might (mis)handle such a thing comes accross really well without being to laboured. And throw in the complications of living in a post-troubles Ireland and you have a book that seems to get a real handle on what it means to be from that part of the UK in the 21st century.
Only slight misgiving is the ending which does not really tie things up enough (or in some cases just cuts them 'dead' which is also a shame) and whilst it leaves room for a sequel (yes please) I feel that the authour could have made it all as 'tight' as the rest of the book feels.
But over-all a worthy inclusion into the British post-apoc fictional genre and one that I would highly recommend to any fans of the genre as a must read.

Hey Matthew,
Thanks for such a great review of my book - really delighted you enjoyed it.
I'm delighted to say that there is a sequel to FLU (to be called FEVER) which should be out from Snowbooks in mid-2011.
Again, thanks for the review and best of luck with the forums.
I'll be sure to post further info on my own post-apocalyptic fiction in the coming months.
Kind regards,
Wayne
