Oddly, we downloaded part one but part two was nowhere to be seen on Iplayer or Sky. Next week it is parts 3 and 4 being broadcast apparently.

The triffids themselves are a classic - from the same vintage as DR Who monsters. The rattle of the triffids talking was good. It has a very similar feel to the contemporaneous Survivors series.

I think the feel is part due to how they were filmed and the atmosphere projectedwhich is less bleak in Triffids than in Survivors. Somehow reading the Triffids it felt like early Summer whereas with Survivors walking around the desolate fields and roads or along the semi-derelict canal in Wiltshire made February a real Survivors month. We even has crows calling to enhance the feel. Later on it cheered up a bit to that meal in the open where Greg played the guitar.

Watched the last episode now and it is still a satisfying work. Trouble is that for me other later PA books and films are measured against it and do not match up. Having said this I am surprised that something so different as The Walking Dead seems to be heading towards the same impression.
